| Why GIVE? |
When times get tough, whether through a struggling economy or other personal struggles, it tests our resolve to give to others. The irony of the United Way campaign is that the more challenging the fund raising environment, the more individuals and families need our help. Though gas, food and other necessities skyrocket, most of us are thankful we have been blessed with family and friends and can enjoy the comforts of home after a good day’s work. The model of the United Way campaign is simple, yet effective. We rely on the gifts of all members of our community, from the smallest individual donation to the largest corporate gift. The combined gifts we raise impact our community for good through the work of our 19 partner agencies and 11 community partners. We challenge you to join us as together we pledge our financial support in order to improve Kershaw County. This year, when you are asked, please give generously. Thank you for LIVING UNITED! |
| How I LIVE UNITED |
| It took everything I made at McDonald’s to keep us at a motel that was run down and unsafe. The United Way’s New Day on Mill Transitional Shelter provided help for me and my granddaughter so that we could get back on our feet. My granddaughter received a new bike for Christmas through United Way so she gave the old bike to someone else. I told her we had so much help from the community and we were going to give back. The extra money we had this Christmas we used to
buy gifts for two needy children and this weekend I plan to use my free time
helping someone move. I am also excited about using my voice to help
United Way raise money. |
 |
If it weren’t
for United Way, I don’t know where we would be.
Thank you for helping us. Because you give we have a much
better life and we can now give back too! Yolanda Gailliard |
