2008-2009 Promoting Health and Healing Priorities

Goal: Provide preventive healthcare, as well as, access to timely and affordable care for anyone experiencing injury, illness or disability.

Definition/ Focus: Provide services to individuals that “fall through the cracks”

Address the critical health needs of our community

Aim where we get the biggest bang for the buck

Major barriers: Lack of awareness

Apathy surrounding health needs of our community

High cost of healthcare (ie Prescription drugs)

Hope/Vision: Working together we can make healthcare accessible for everyone in Kershaw County.

Emphasis: VOLUNTEERISM

a. Appropriate utilization of resources for targeted group

b. Serving those that don’t qualify for services

c. Clearinghouse function for those with multiple needs

5. Access to prescription drugs

6. Promote the healthcare profession

b. Support for first responders

7. Assistance for mental health consumers
