Thanks to a grant from the United States Department of Agriculture – Natural Resources Conservation Service (USDA-NRCS), we have established 8 Community Gardens across Kershaw County. This initiative brings fresh, nutritious, and easily accessible food directly to residents—especially in underserved areas.
OUR PURPOSE
The Community Gardens program focuses on improving the health and well-being of Kershaw County residents by:
Providing convenient access to fresh produce
Encouraging healthy eating habits
Engaging the community in growing their own food
Expanding outreach to promote nutrition education
LEARNING AND ENGAGEMENT
To ensure that residents can make the most of these resources, we offer two free classes or workshops each month. These sessions cover topics such as planting, harvesting, meal preparation, and sustainable gardening practices.
