United Way of Kershaw County

new day transitional housing

At New Day Transitional Housing and Homeless Services, our mission is clear: to eliminate homelessness in Kershaw County by addressing the needs of individuals and families experiencing housing instability. We live by our mission statement:

“Fill gaps in homeless housing and services as we identify them by working in harmony with community agencies, local, state and federal government, churches, individuals, and other ministries.”

Our Services

New Day provides comprehensive support to help families and individuals move from crisis to stability:

  • Rental assistance and deposits to prevent homelessness

  • Emergency shelter for those in immediate need

  • Three transitional cottage locations, designed to meet unique needs:

    • Women / Women with Children

    • Men

    • Families or Women

While living in a New Day cottage, residents receive case management to address the obstacles that led to homelessness, empowering them to rebuild their lives and move toward independence.

Our Impact

  • Served 300 families with shelter and support

  • Maintained a 93% success rate of clients graduating into permanent housing

  • Partnered with local organizations to create a seamless network of care

New Day is more than a shelter—it’s a pathway to hope, stability, and independence. Each family we serve is one step closer to breaking the cycle of homelessness and creating a brighter future.
